Peanut Butter Tower
ME 2011
1. To begin take 8 3X5 note cards and fold them in half so that the 3 inch ends touch eachother. Crease them all and then open them again.
2. Next you want to make boxes that are 3 inches tall. Take two cards and match up the corresponding 3inch sides and tape them together. Tape holds best if you put the tape along the front of both pieces and then fold it over the back.
3. Repeat this to 3 more boxes so that you have four total.
4. Take one of the boxes into your hands and with your forefingers and thumb squeeze two sets of consecutive corners together while using your pointer finger to press the card inward so that from a birds eye view the box will begin to appear like an hourglass. Do this only to two of the sides and crease the folds that you just made so that you have what looks like an hourglass or slightly like a straight figure eight.
5. Repeat this step to the other three boxes
6. Now we need to attach the boxes together so rotate the boxes 90 degrees one after the other so that none of the edges line up when you stack it. Make sure that you pull the boxes apart enough so that they are only slightly skinny. The straight edge of the box that is on top of it should ride on top of the folded side of the box below it. After you have positioned the boxes correctly place tape on the four places where the two boxes are touching.
7. Repeat this step. Remember to rotate each box.
8. At the end you should have a twelve inch tower with a sturdy support but may be tippy. This is a sacrifice that we are willing to make to keep the card count few. If on a test run the tower keeps tipping over, tape two cards on the bottom standing up so that they are three inches tall to add stability.
