Womens Rights in Global Business

Women have made progress in the sector of business within recent years. The impact that women have in business is powerful and influential. Much advancement in business has been made by smart and innovative thinking women. Some deals may have never been closed and important contact never made if it was not for the flair of a woman. Women are vital in the day to day functions in American culture. In many cultures across the sea from the United States the importance of women is not so great. The role of the women is non important and her only use is in the kitchen and taking care of the kids. This paper will help explore the role that women play in business in the United States and Japan.
In Asia the norm is not present for women to be seen around the office. Many women of Asian culture perform all of her duties inside the home. Women are not as respected as the male figure is in Japanese culture. Woman in Japan make 50% less annually then men (worldbusinessculture.com, 2009). This is a major slap in the face to a Japanese women that achieved her education. The role in the woman in Japanese society is belittled and small. Japanese woman are rarely made the boss and the far chance that a women is the boss, she is rarely taken serious. Japan was ranked number 69 out of 75 countries by the World Economic Forum (nytimes.com, 2009). Women in Japan only hold 9% of the jobs as mangers in Japan (nytimes.com, 2009). This amount is extremely small and the percentage supports the fact that women are jokes in business. In Japan the women that are present in the office are there to support the clerical duties and to serve tea. Women in Japan whom choose to seek entrepreneurship seem to fare better than women who try and make it in corporate society. Tradition runs deep in Japan and traditionally the woman is to stay home and the man provides for the household.
