World Geography Unit 1 Standards
Describing the concept of a place by using it's characteristics is how you use the information around you and how others see it. This can be done by looking at some of the most easily recognizable physical features. Don't include places that only locals know about. If a place has a big grassland area use that as a reference to describing the location of the place that you are trying to point out. Also using climate and other physical features help because many places in the world have a unique climate and physical features that make them easy to find.
Using human characteristics and other human activities to describe a place is an another great way to find a place, because if you tell someone this is what these humans do in this area, you are being specific and it make it easier to find the place. Human characteristics area unique in every part of the world. If every one was the same we would have no culture diversity or different world religions. And agriculture and industry features become very specific in relation to what the region or place is like. One area may be striving with oil and another may not but may be striving with diamonds.
The physical and human interrelationship os very important for the survival for the human, because they rely on the physical features of the land for food, shelter, and other basic necessities for life. When the human take from the land it is vital for them to give back so that human doesn't take all and destroy the land. And ruin the physical features of the land that the human depends on. The physical features also determine the what kind climate and environment the human has to adapt to.
