World Religions Report

History is known that, mankind has practiced over hundreds and thousands of different religions; one of the oldest, largest and most well known is Catholicism. Jesus Christ sometime around 30 AD founded Catholicism. What is Catholicism? It is a broad term often used for the Catholic faith, as well as the religious people. More broadly, the understanding of the word “Catholic†refers to many churches including the Roman Catholic Church. During the middle Ages, if you were a Christian you belonged to a Catholic church. Even in today’s modern society, Catholicism is prominent throughout the world and still considered one of the largest practiced Christian religions. (ReligiousFacts.com, 2009)
Within this report, different descriptive and informative discussions will take place concerning the Christian religion of Catholicism. After visiting a Catholic church, I will interview a member of the church asking several personal and opinionated questions about Catholicism. After the interview, a contrast and comparison of Hinduism and Catholicism will be completed.
The chosen church of interest to visit is St. Matthew Catholic Church. This church is located in Champaign IL. The church was built in 1956 and at that time, consisted of approximately 96 families. Today, the church has well over 300 members and continues to grow. The church building is a huge build not as bog as other Catholic churches and has a difficult time accommodating all members inside at one time. Due to the size, members may choose different times and days to attend Mass during the week.
The date chosen to visit St. Jude Catholic Church was September 2, 2009, during the Wednesday night prayer service at 5:30 PM After the conclusion of Mass, I met a member of the church who, coincidentally, was a previous acquaintance I did not know attended this church. For purposes of...
